  • Using Ambrosia to Donate Wood

    Post

Quote from rperera: “Quote from UltimatePirate: “ I want a refund on all the US dollars I have ever spent. Can you make that happen bam? Unless of course you don't consider US dollars to be money. ” It's refundable for a certain period of time, whereas ambrosia is not.” I guess you don't trade currencies very often. Or stocks for that matter. Quote from bamcbix: “ @UltimatePirate - noob. I knew you were the UltimateNoob though so its fine, I forgive ya ” Forgive me for what?

Quote from bamcbix: “Your all noobs, I swear. If you dont read or look at what your hitting then excuse my pessimistic self but you deserve your screw up. BTW, Ambrosia != money, you already bought the ambrosia or already took the survey to get the ambrosia, if ambrosia = money it would be refundable, it is not. Know what your talking about before plaguing the forums as clearly you're making yourself look idiotic. Poor you for not donating wood anymore, gives me a reason to farm you more. Zero.”…

Quote from LG2nd: “Quote from MeanOldMan: “ On the comment about not making small wood pile donations, I was hitting the "Max" button which would have donated all my ambrosia no matter how much. If somebody had just bought $99.00 worth of ambrosia, that would be an expensive mistake. ” I have to agree with you in this one, why did they made that "Max" tab in there? What's the superpose of donating all ambrosia someone has? looks to me it has been made in this way intentionally by the game progra…

Quote from bamcbix: “Hey! I remember this idea did u dig it up or did u suggest it one of the five or six times it was suggested? This is crap and should never happen. Digging in to how the game work and forcing it to be destroyed based on completely changing game mechanics... huh... sounds like why many people have quit this game previously does it not?” If you read the full thread you would see that this is more of a rough idea than a suggestion nor is it identical to any previous suggestion a…

Quote from IrishRedz: “ The idea should stop where its at to avoid anymore wasted time. ” That is very altruistic of you, spending your time to prevent others wasting theirs. Quote from IrishRedz: “ A trade route pirate - being a player who doesnt attack anyone but just sets up ships in the sea, which ALSO takes out the land based part. ” The land based part of the game will remain as is and I for one plan on pillaging both by land and by sea. Quote from Kalo: “It would probably be easier to jus…

  • Fleet Interception at Sea

    UltimatePirate - - 2012

    Post

You guys have made some good points. I should have made clear in my initial post that I envisioned the pirates would have to pre-allocate a number of their own cargo ships in order to carry back any loot. This would force pirates to be strategic in how many ships they sent because if they sent a large force with most of their trade-ships to one route, then that would impede their ability to cover multiple routes. Similarly shippers might have an incentive to be strategic in purchasing smaller am…

Quote from ImperialUser: “You missed my point, I was referring to your saying limit ship fleet attacks to a 1 round combat. As the current system is, there is no variance available. As your suggestion was, however it's programed, either the person attacking will always win that one round combat or the person sending ships will always be able to defend successfully.” In the event of exactly equal damage, the interceptor fleet could be displaced allowing the trade fleet to pass but that event is n…

  • Upgrade building button x

    UltimatePirate - - Pending

    Post

Currently if you click the upgrade button when you don't have enough resources it gives you a messsage like the following: Quote: “ You do not have enough resources to build this building. The following resources are missing to build the building: Building material: 259,219 Marble: 277,491 Back to the building ” So the only difference with your idea would be that you wouldn't have to click the button to see that?

Quote from ImperialUser: “Then either you will have enough defense to defend your ships and any raiding is pointless, or any attack will succeed and it's pointless to spend upkeep trying to protect your ships.” This is already the situation with conventional raids. You either ward off the attacker or you get pillaged. And there are a lot of choices for fleet composition. Before 3.2 battles happened all at once but they weren't predictable unless you knew the exact force composition. Under a flee…

Quote from JuneBarcarolle: “I agree it sounds like something for the brainstorming section. As for thoughts on the actual idea, I guess my first question would be: Who are the pirates that would be intercepting these shipments? Other players or game-generated mechanics?” Sorry I didn't realize we had a brainstorming section. The pirates would be other players of course. What would be the fun in having pirates if you couldn't choose to be one? Quote from Bugmeat: “I hate these ideas, hate them to…

    Post

Many Ikariam players have expressed an interest in the idea of in-game piracy. This is an attempt at the beginning of an idea designed to lay some of the foundations for possible piracy game mechanics in Ikariam. The mechanics are not yet exact, as there are many potential pitfalls to be avoided. I believe they could probably be adapted into something workable. How it might work: The route between any two cities [A,B] and [C,D] can be specified with 4 integers A,B,C,D. Players could have the opt…

That would be pretty close to all you would need to max it. So say you are a specialist surgeon who makes $20K per operation and plays ikariam at night. You could be the biggest badaxe on the server for one afternoon's work!” I assume by "badaxe" you mean "f…

  • I think part of the trouble is that we don't yet know whether the futures are capped at some point. If they are not capped, then it can be proven with mathematical certainty that investing in scientific future will eventually (though it may be many years or decades later) yield a higher total amount of research points than if someone just invested in military future. If on the other hand the futures are capped, then it could well be that one will never get any more research done by investing in …

Quote from Bugmeat: “Other than being completely incapacitated all of those problems have solutions. It doesn't matter how busy with work you are, you can find a couple of minutes every 30 days to log in and re-enter v-mode. If you simply cannot get any sort of internet access at all for an entire month (two months unless you were hijacked and couldn't enter v-mode before going) you have the option of getting a friend or relative to do it for you.” Well I for one don't think that I should have t…

And a 1 month window if something dramatic happens to find a computer and put yourself into vacation. While I personally don't like it for certain games, Ikariam it is kind of a moot point to argue against. Your either playing the game or your not. The only way you can "lose" your island spots is if you "stop playing", which again, you shouldn't care because you have "stopped playing".” I imagi…

  • Removing Inactive Players

    Post

The ghosting of inactives has made me reconsider donating large amounts of material to my islands. I had planned on donating several hundred million wood to raise mills near their cap. This would have made sense before as I would have enjoyed the benefits of larger mills in perpetuity. Now with the possibility of losing my towns slots if I am unable to log in for a couple months this level of donations seems far too risky.
