How to set your Alliance Page up

Intro: The Alliance pages in Ikariam are set in HTML coding. The following coding below will help you with a reference of what each code that works (that i have tested) and what it does.

    1. Bold

    Source Code

    1. <b>Text</b>

    Output: Text

    ------

    2. Italics

    Source Code

    1. <i>Text</i>

    Output: Text

    ------

    3. Underline

    Source Code

    1. <u>Text</u>

    Output: Text

    ------

    4. Strike

    Source Code

    1. <s>Text</s>

    Output:
[SIZE=7](Note: An image was required due to lack of Strike BBC Code)[/SIZE]

    ------

    5. Image

    Source Code

    1. <img src="URLofIMAGE.jpg" alt="">

    Output:

    ------

    6. Link

    Source Code

    1. <a href="URLofSITE/">NAMEofLINK</a>

    Output: Link to our site
[SIZE=7](note you can replace the "Link to our site" with the Image code to have a link image!)[/SIZE]

    ------

    7. Break Line

    Source Code

    1. <hr>

    Output: ______________________________________________________________

    ------

    8. Color Addition

    Source Code

    1. <font color="#ff0000">Red</font>

    Output: Red
Code Breakdown: "ff0000" is a HTML color and requires a code of numbers and letters to make the color

-Click here for a HTML color Selector-

    ------

    9. Tab Right

    Source Code

    1. <blockquote dir="ltr">
    2. <p>
    3. Text</p></blockquote>

    Output: Text

    ------

    10. Text Align: Right

    Source Code

    1. <P align=right>Text</P>

Output: (once again no BBC coding, so its just really far on the right) Text

    ------

    11. Text Align: Left

    Source Code

    1. <P align=left>Text</P>

Output: Text (for if you need to move it for some unknown reason)

    ------

    12. Center Text

    Source Code

    1. [align=center]Insert Text Here[/align]

    Output:
    Insert Text Here

    ------

    13. Email link

    Source Code

    1. <a href="mailto:EmailAddress">EmailOwnerName</a>

    Output: [EMAIL=EmailAddress]EmailOwnerName[/EMAIL]

    ------

    14. Font Size

    Source Code

    1. <span style="font-size:10px;">Font Size</span>

    Outcome: Font Size

You can change the font size bigger or smaller by changing the "10px" line to something you want like, 15px which would look like this:

    Source Code

    1. <span style="font-size:18px;">Font Size</span>

    Outcome: Font Size

    ------

    15. Tables (kudos to porky)

    Source Code

    1. <table border="1" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="1" width="500"><tbody><tr><td>Top Left</td><td>Top Right</td></tr><tr><td>Bottom Left</td><td>Bottom Right</td></tr></tbody></table>

    Output: pdgclan.net/htmlhelp.html

    Meaning of the code:
<table border="1" width="500"> -Starts the Table and sets the Border and width a 0 border will have no border. You can make the Width percent by adding a % after the number from 1-100. You may also add height="250" (or any number). Leaving the height out will keep it sized to the amount it contains.
    <tbody> -Opens Table Body
    <tr> -Starts Vertical Row
    <td> -Starts One Column
    Top Left -Text
    </td> -Ends One Column
    <td> -Starts One Column
    Top Right -Text
    [B]</td> -Ends One Column
    </tr> -Ends Vertical Row
    <tr> -Starts Vertical Row
    <td> -Starts One Column
    Bottom Left -Text
    </td> -Ends One Column
    [B]<td> -Starts One Column
    Bottom Right -Text
    </td> -Ends One Column
    </tr> -Ends Vertical Row
    [B]</tbody>
    -Ends Table Body
    </table> -Ends Table Code

    ===========
This is the extent of what has worked. The following as been tested and has not worked:

    -Background image
    -Iframes
    -Bullet List
    -Numerical List
    -Embed code (videos, etc)
    -Top page link[/quote]

    ===========
    Easy Way

If you do not want to mess with any of this coding you can also setup your page here in the Ikariam forums. You will need to reply to a post, but not submit it. Simply fill out what you want for your alliance page with the BBC coding on the forums. Paste your work into the section desired and it will be changed to HTML for you. But know that there are more codes in HTML.

  • How do you change your alliance page LINK? I have looked for a button to click in order to change the original (now defunct) website and paste up our sleek, cool, new and improved one, but no dice! ;(
  • Go to the embassy and edit the External Page. Above the HTML area for the External Page there is Homepage. :D Cheers!

*btw you need to be Diplomat or leader.
  • An Addition to this:

For Complete Zeros on Coding (An Idoit's Guide)
Well for one you have to arrange them so that when someone sees your alliance page the browser and Ikariam know how to read the Alliance Page stuff you are wanting. You have to give it a few simple commands so it knows what to do with your text or images.

To start if you want your text bold that says "Hello World" Ikariam will not know that you want it bold unless you provide a command around it. This works like the Ikariam Forums. Putting the following blocks of commands will tell Ikariam you want the text inside the blocks to be Bold: [b] Hello World [/b] You put the text that you want bold inside the blocks:

You can do a number of block codes set in the Tut I made. For images you have to know a couple of things

The Image command works like the text, but you need your pictures on a hosted website that anyone can see. A good example is Photobucket or Imageshack. You simple put the command blocks [IMG] and [/IMG] around the location of the image (also known as a URL). So you would put [IMG]http://image.com/location/of/image.jpg[/img] and it would display a picture. For aligning things you need to break the rule in the page. This is also known as "pressing enter" like in most text editing fields it will make you break the rule and go one spot down. Without them the images would be side by side for ever. Here is what i mean

    [IMG1][IMG2][IMG3][IMG4]

or if you break the rule with the 'Enter' Key you can space the images

    [IMG1][IMG2]
    [IMG3][IMG4]
