    • Annoyed of Leechers? Here's an Improvement.

+++ I was just suggesting that forests, quarries, mines, pits, and vineyard must have a target bar for donation for each player based on the number of towns in the island. e.g. Island A has 10 towns in it. Then Saw Mill costs 394 to upgrade to level 2. then each player will have a bar that they must donate at least 40 to upgrade it to level 2. So that you can check who's the leecher or not.

      OR

+++ If you don't want that suggestion, then my suggestion is that all players will have their own mills in the forest. But the interaction to other players will be lost right? Then the total resource per hour will be based on level of your own saw mill in the forest + the level of the forest itself.

      > Example:
Own Saw Mill Level 2 Upgrade costs: 23 (this is based on level 2 saw mill cost which is 394/16 towns)
Player A donated 23 woods then it will be level 2 for his own saw mill.

Now as time goes by, Player A already got level 20 Own Saw Mill. It will be an advantage for him because he's a generous donor of wood on the island.

Unlike Player B with just level 10 Own Saw Mill. (But I can't blame this player if he is military or pillage type that his resource depends only on his pillage. You're not required to donate since you seldom use the Saw Mill. Only the level of saw mill on the island will be affected. You're still considered burden but not like the situation of the leecher right now.)

      > The computation of the Saw Mill of the Island Level Still depends on the overall donation of the towns in the island. As I was saying earlier, the total woods per hour, or wines/marble/crystal/sulphur depends on your OWN + the ISLANDS level of gathering area. So the interaction on players will not be lost.

      > To make it simple, if the old system allows you to have 264 gatherers at level 14 saw mill, then it can be 75% of it which is 198 workers if you have level 14 in your own saw mill. But if the island gets level 14 also, then the +25% of it which 66 can be added to your worker. (this is just an example. It's up to you what percentage you will implement. It's just a consideration for good donors.)

75% of max for your own depends on its level + 25% of max for the island depends also on its level.

      e.g.
      OWN SAW MILL: Level 20 75% x 420 = 315
      ISLAND SAW MILL: Level 15 25% x 288 = 72

You can have 387 total workers on the island.

Therefore it will be fair for those who really donates. They will not much suffer from leechers in their island.

      > The level of the saw mill on the island will be displayed on the island view instead of the individuals. You can only check the level of your own if you click it. There's a bar there and indication of the level of your own.
    • Hi porte marvin,

Could you clarify a few things?

For your first idea, how does it adjust for people who warp onto an island or take over an old account?

For the second idea, it comes close to this dead end idea:

Nothing that saves you hard, ingame work
That's right - you're supposed to make some efforts to play Ikariam. Basically, things are the way they are to make you work to get them. If you suggest an easier method to achieve some effect already present in the game, you remove the need for it; thus potentially taking away some of the advantage that better players (who have worked hard for their account) have.

Ikariam has built some team dynamics into the game, which you propose in part to remove. The idea is to reward those islands who work well as a team and penalize those that don't. Your idea proposes to remove the penalty for those islands that don't work together. How would you propose to remedy this?

    • This idea is just stupid and a waste of space. If you've gotta use a leecher checker script, than you're a leech because its made by leeches. If you do not understand how much somebody, based on their size and current war status should be donating, you are an idiot. This system does not help anybody especially as servers progress as I can only assume you are a noob among noobs and do not understand how useless this idea is. Last but not least, let me cover the wasted space aspect more clearly because you MUST be new to be suggesting such crap so you probably do not know s*** about s*** thats been around these parts. When you waste unnecessary space for crap like this idea, you do not make anybody happy, mobile users already b**** and complain about slow servers, people with older computers or crappy ones complain etc so why are you trying to break something thats not broken?

BTW, your suggestions do not make sense if you read them all... you want to be the community s*** and walk around to island 50:50 for these resources, island 48:32 for these resources, and wherever else for these other resources but... you also want to stop leeches? are you stupid or something? your gonna w**** your way around on other islands and then prevent leeches... which btw it'd be a very interesting code for allowing donations on other islands that your not on with no town name, coords, player name etc.

God if this idea gets sent to suggestions your not going to like me, promise you that. I might not enjoy reading new peoples suggestions because all it is IS crap but what the hell, at least some new people suggest decent ideas that potentially in another game would work out somewhat decently based on what the games' main objective is and how the company makes money

      Zero.

    • Different people have different ideas on what constitutes "leeching." So whose opinion would you want this so-called "bar" to use?

There are leecher checkers already, and I don't like those either. Any script or programming that tries to do the thinking for people is bad in my opinion. If you think your neighbor is leeching, send them a PM. Send their alliance a PM. If diplomacy doesn't work, either they don't care or they disagree with your idea of what a proper donation should be. From there it's your choice how far you want to push it. Military force is always an option, and there have been plenty of wars fought over this issue.

I've been a diplomat for years, and in that time I've seen LOTS of complaints about leeching. Sometimes I agree with the complainer and will push to get my player to step up. Other times the complainer was being unreasonable. (No, we will not be asking our 500K player to donate 2 million wood on your island.) Also there are circumstances that a leecher checker can't take into account. (I realize our 3 million point player has donations of only 100K on your island. He just planted that city yesterday. Give him some time.)

Overall, keeping leeching enforcement to the human beings rather than the programming is the fairest way to work things out.

wouldn't that kill the idea of donating? I find it easier to just farm the leech, and donate for them

The other idea would kill the balance of the game, i believe its better if they are shared, because if the newcomers to the game would be able to catch up to higher ranks easily due to high wood/luxury resource level. If each had his own, the weak will stay weak... Noone is going to donate to the islands since its just 25% until later on, meaning this will cause a shift in the balance of the game
    • OMG THE BIGGEST FAT ZERO I COULD POSSIBLY MAKE ZERO!!
I AM A LECHER AND I AM NOT DONATING!!! :cursing: :cursing: I WILL FARM YOU IF I NEED MORE LOOT!!! WHY SHOULD I DONATE!! ?( ?( Donating is waist of res!!

I feel the need to give you one of these ---> :lolbash:

Staying on topic, this is quite complicated, and really unnecessary. If someone doesn't donate, talk them into it, or (my preferred method) just loot them till they donate.
