    • A Letter From the Product Team

      Dear players,

      As we’re aware that apart from several “smaller versions” (which did however bring quite a bunch of changes and improvements) nothing much along the line of “news” happened recently we’d like to give you a small outlook on what we’re working on this year. Apart from continuing to work on bugfix versions and versions with minor features that are designed to improve convenience and user experience we have three major topics on the agenda for this year and all of them are currently being worked on in one way or another, be it planning, game design, developing or testing.

      Namely those are:

      Barbarian Fleet
      You might have noticed from us asking you about possible names for rather rough, barbarian looking ships: the barbarians will get ships. We don’t want to let on too much about it for now as the barbarian fleet will come with some other new things on the side but it’s going to be yet another thing to look out for.

      Achievement Rewards
      Granted, it took a while but we needed some other things to be finished and available first before we could start working on those.

      Alliance Wars
      Yes, they’re coming! We’re currently roughing out some plans, twiddle around with different ideas in our minds and getting the big think tank working on it.
      Alliance wars will be a thing and we’re committed on working on those this year as well. Now, we won’t make any promises as to when any of this will hit the live servers. We are working on those and parts of it look great already, others still need some work and some need some more fine-tuning and polishing. As soon as we have more detailed information available we feel confident sharing with you we will. We did feel however that it was time for a rough overview of what’s going to be worked on this year.

      First, this is the first time they've ever done a message like this, right? It seems like it as far as I can tell.

      Second, it's rather interesting and I do have a couple questions.

      Barbarian Fleet: They stated there wouldn't be further details yet, so I'm not really curious about those myself.

      Achievement Rewards: I wonder if they'll be retrospective too. Many of us have achieved quite a few of the achievements so it would be nice to get the rewards newer players would get.

      Alliance Wars: Weren't those already implemented a bit with Gauntlet Wars? I'm curious what they could be adding there.

    • Last time when those noobs were convincing me that GF is not coming up with Barbarian fleet but new units for players, they were wrong.So, I will make some assumptions again about what I believe we will get.

      1) No clues are given for what comes additionally with Barbarian fleet.I am limited on this one; but we could expect some surprising naval maneuvers from Barbarians. Port blockades are to be expected for sure.

      2) I highly believe that the rewards will be retrospective, so we will be able to get them for what we already accomplished.There will probably be a button next to every finished achievement that you have to click in order to get the reward.Much like a daily objectives, just without a timer.

      3) Alliance wars may be a built-in feature to enable declaration of war.For example, diplomat of alliance A can send a message to diplomat of alliance B as a "declaration of war" type message.Much like treaties.War would be active as long as one does not send back a request to end it and the other accepts it.

      Additionally, they might get some sort of a built-in damage calculator.If game gets to recognize two sides as part of a declaration, then I see it would be possible to make it count the damage in fights where the two tags collide.


      Those would be my guesses.Lets see what happens.
      Certainly it is good to hear about this from the team.

    • This game was far better 4 years ago than it is today. The "dev" team...if there is one...should have been fired a long time ago.

    • The game was better because there were more active players. With such a slow pace of development (the death of any game) folks eventually get tired and move on to something different.

      It's like playing Monopoly 100 times a day for months and years on end. At some point if nothing new happens you lose interest.

    • It's so good to read that players always know everything about game and development better than real game developers and publishers - keep going, maybe open your own company and become one of the famous specialist in game industry? :thumbsup:

    • I think we've fallen into that dead end again, whereby some quarters argue that one must be a game developer in order to critique game development. Whereas, more often than not, the vast majority of players actually have other jobs, or perhaps attend an educational institution of some sort, generally do well with those pursuits, and rely on those they PAY REAL MONEY TO to continually update and improve - or 'develop' - the game that their money and patronage allows to exist in the first place. Don't need 3 Michelin stars to know McDonald's isn't great food.

      That said, last update was good. Copied an element from a script on the one hand, behaved ethically for once with regard to pausing plus features when v mode is activated. Good stuff - thank you developers, sincerely.

      Hulk plays his character here. It's quite obvious. Though your snarky comments otherwise do not reveal a higher sense of character either. You may code it with some bull, but at the end of the day, the intent is the same and your crudeness is highly revealed. Don't insinuate you're better than people in certain regards when you know nothing of the other party. Regardless of potential truth, you look foolish. Period.       I'm not here to toot my own horn or to proclaim my knowledge of programming and game development (unlike some of the people here). I'm bring my experience of having actually actively played this game for many years...and the community's general consensus of how the game has been constantly ruined by updates that GF doesn't think through. So yes, you can stand on your high horse and spew your crap about how I know nothing about game programming and development (and you'd be wrong) but you can't argue with the fact that GF has done nothing but create a game that demands you spend money to compete and therefore they must open new servers to get the hand full of people who do spend money interested in the game for a few days before they need to merge it into an older server because they can't afford to keep multiple ones open due to the lack of interest caused by their DEVELOPMENT of a game that requires everyone to spend money to compete in the first place. There, it comes full F***** circle.
