Wells ee MS scores are allw ell and good but maintenence of an MS is also based on your towns, your effective population and ability to build an amy/fleet and maintain it. It doesn't matter how much gold is pillaged off you if at the end of the day you can break even witha n effective force toa ccomplish your goals. Most people who consider themselves a fighter only only ever look at overall damages and always dismiss small engagements out of hand. My original point on the 2 cr's posted being that one you lot won by 1k MS damages and the other you lost by 2800 odd military and so regardless he was still ahead in military damages stands. It doesn't matter what else youa ll harp on about because those two CR's show that you are still behind in military damages. Gold pillaging is all well and good but everyone has that level of military standing that relies on actual resource damage not just gold pillage.. What I'm curious about here because it seems to be a gold pillaging war server only happenstance is your statement of:

I've never dealt with gold pillaging before so please do enlighten me - in effect it appears that gold pillage is based on units sent to pillage as opposed to cargo ships sent in like normal pillage, and that cooks pillage more gold then other units and massed spears work out at cheaper then other units equivalent because you can support more of them due to their 1 gold upkeep and cheap unit cost to produce and so can send in thousands without any real issues or detracting from main ground force composition. Is that about right?

You are not even close.
I am referring to how Norman Mclean was taught writing by his dad, Rev. Mclean. His dad kept striking out sentences from Norman's theme until Norman had it down to the minimum number of words to make his point. That's good writing style.
